ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER (2012)

Directed by: Timur Bekmambetov
Produced by: Timur Bekmambetov, Tim Burton and  Jim Lemley
Screenplay by: Seth Grahame-Smith
Based on Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter by Seth Grahame-Smith

Starring:
Benjamin Walker as Abraham Lincoln
Dominic Cooper as Henry Sturges
Anthony Mackie as William Johnson
Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Mary Todd Lincoln
Rufus Sewell as Adam, the vampire villain

Based on the novel of the same name by, Seth Grahame-Smith. Seth Grahame-Smith also wrote the screenplay for the film as well. The movie tells the story of out 16th President and his secret identity as a vampire hunter/killer.

The movie was produced by Tim Burton and directed by Timur Bekmambetov who also directed WANTED, starring Angelina Jolie. Now I have to say the movie is very much different from the book. The story is similar but, a certain character in the book is not mentioned or featured in the movie. Which brought it down a bit. The action was over the top and amazing. The CGI made the movie fun and that much more enjoyable.

Benjamin Walker who played Lincoln was great, the make-up was superb. Now his acting was very well done and believable. He is an actor to watch for in the coming years. Rufus Sewall who you may remember from DARK CITY, played the vampire villain in this. He was good but it felt like there should of been more of him. Dominic Cooper as Henry was good but could of been better. Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Mary Todd Lincoln was very well done, the make up was great.  Anthony Mackie as William Johnson could of been used a lot more.

The movie was good and very well done. It blended history with myth, which was very good to see. This is not your normal Vampire movie. It's full of action, sorrow, revenge and betrayal. I recommend this movie.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter gets 9.5/10 stars
